| The Chilaw Plantations Limited (CPL) manages a total of approximately 14,000 acres of lands located in the districts of Puttalam, Kurunegala and Gampaha. A new scheme was launched in the year 2020 to lease out coconut cultivated lands for short term crop cultivations for a maximum period of 05 years on a minimum lease rental of Rs.12,000/- per acre per year.
Additionally, a refundable security deposit of Rs.6,000/- per acre is recovered.
The aim of the programme is to lease out a maximum of 3,000 acres within three years increasing the volume of inter crop cultivations of CPL ensuring the maximum utilization of CPL lands. This scheme will contribute to the national production of Sri Lanka, whist the peoples’ income is increased due to the support they gain by receiving a good land for cultivations at a nominal lease rental.
Additionally, the soil conditions of the CPL lands also would be developed due to the said short term crop cultivations. |
